Volume two (2) “Peace” has a different focus than Volume One (1) "Hope" Where Volume One (1) was focused on fighting the addiction, and walked with the reader as we examined the ways that parents found out about the addiction and responded to the addiction; Volume two (2) focuses on the affect that addiction has had on the rest of the family. How did this addiction affect your other children, your spouse, your grand children, and especially how did this addiction affect you. As always the emphasis is on providing you with tools for this part of your journey.
Along the way we will discover many reasons for peace. Scientific, well documented, but seldom shared facts that give solid reasons for peace. For example did you know that you are not going crazy? One of the things that we all experience is grief over our lost loved one. But our grief is not anything like most normal grieving processes. Our loss, is upright, walking around, but totally different than the person we used to know and love. At the same time our grief is what is known as disenfranchised grief. We are not allowed to grieve our loss as most people would, there is shame and embarrassment, judgement and sometimes even spoken criticism around our loss. This problem, this “unrecognized loss” when combined with the “disenfranchised loss” results in what is known as complex grief. Complex grief can make it seem like you are going insane, but you are not, this is a normal reaction and there are ways to work through it.
